“So it’s you? You killed my Dragon Clan elder, and you still dare to come to the forbidden ancestral Dragon Mountain Range, do you really think the Dragon Clan has no one left?” The old man in red robes growled deeply, his eyes fierce as he glared at the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth, the murderous aura around him growing even denser.

But the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth remained calm and nodded indifferently. “That’s right. The Dragon Clan truly has no one left. You should know this even better than I do, shouldn’t you?”

“You…” The old man in red robes was momentarily stunned by his words, staring at the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth as though he wanted to tear him apart alive.

In the next moment, the old man in red robes transformed into a shadow, carrying a dense murderous aura as he charged toward the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth. His sharp, crimson dragon claws, wreathed in wild and raging fire, seemed to tear through space as they appeared before the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth in an instant.

Bang—the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth clenched his fist suddenly and struck out, colliding fiercely with the blazing dragon claw.

Accompanied by the muffled sound of impact and the violent explosion of energy, the thick murderous aura in the surroundings was forced back.

“Ah…” The old man in red robes let out a suppressed cry of pain, his whole body shuddering as he was knocked back in a sorry state, crashing into the stone wall of the mountain’s inner chamber. His crimson, flaming dragon claw was twisted.

Clutching his twisted claw with his other hand, the old man in red robes stared in disbelief at the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth. “Impossible! How can your physical body be so strong? Who are you? Are you an innate divine demon? Who exactly are you?”

“Why bother knowing in such detail? Show me your true power. Otherwise, you are doomed,” the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth replied coldly, shaking his head.

For a mad and dangerous enemy like this old man in red, it was best to kill him to prevent future trouble.

“Want to kill me? Dream on!” the old man in red robes shouted angrily, his expression twisted with madness. Instantly, his aura became wild and violent, and a blazing red light flashed between his brows. A phantom-like eyeball slowly appeared, a fierce and terrifying power brewing within it, distorting the space before him.

Seeing this, the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth narrowed his eyes. The phantom eye between the old man’s brows reminded him of the ancestral dragon who once dominated the primordial world. Like the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth, the ancestral dragon was born as an innate divine demon with only a single eye. Its eye possessed immense power, capable of absorbing and refining various energies of the world, and nurturing the light of destruction. The light of destruction shot from the ancestral dragon's eye could severely injure even a quasi-saint’s physical body. That single eye was the ancestral dragon’s ultimate secret technique.

If he were facing the ancestral dragon itself, the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth would have to be fully alert. But an insignificant fire dragon, merely at the level of a Great Golden Immortal, who had learned only a fraction of the ancestral dragon’s techniques, was not worth his attention.

“I’d like to see how much skill you truly possess,” the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth sneered inwardly, not dodging at all. He let the blazing red light condense on the phantom eye and fire a dark red beam of destruction at his chest.

Sss—The Ancestor of Heaven and Earth’s body trembled slightly as the beam struck his chest. He felt a faint stab of pain, a mild burning sensation. Its power, as he expected, might pose a threat to ordinary Great Golden Immortals, but for someone with a quasi-saint’s physical body, it was no threat at all.

The old man in red robes stared dumbfounded at the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth, only reacting after several breaths, shaking his head as if deeply shaken. “No, impossible! How could you so easily withstand the attack of my Eye of the Torch Dragon? This can’t be!”

“The Eye of the Torch Dragon? If you could refine the ancestral dragon’s eye left behind, perhaps you could unleash a fraction of its power and pose a slight threat to me. Unfortunately, what you have is a pale imitation. What use is it?” The Ancestor of Heaven and Earth shook his head and sneered, flipping his hand to bring out the Heaven and Earth Ruler, ready to kill the old man in red.

Just as he was about to strike, a low, mocking laugh rang out. The old man’s face twisted with ferocity, his eyes flickering with madness, and his aura became even more violent.

“Ancestor Dragon, Ao Zhuo is incompetent. I cannot restore the Dragon Clan’s glory, and have allowed the clan to be humiliated. I have no face to linger in this world any longer, so I come to join you!” In a hysterical roar, the old man in red robes suddenly exploded into a mass of fire, like a bomb detonating.

Feeling the wild aura from the old man’s body, the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth realized something was wrong. He quickly flipped his hand to retrieve the Heaven and Earth Diagram and tried to retreat, but was engulfed by an incredibly violent storm of blazing energy. Not to mention the terrifying power of a Great Golden Immortal dragon’s self-destruction, the key was that this took place in the relatively confined chamber of the mountain, where the wild energy was restricted, and most of its force surged toward the exit.

Moments later, as the storm of blazing energy slowly subsided, the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth frowned and finally relaxed a bit. Though the Heaven and Earth Diagram had shielded him from most of the blast, the residual impact was still enough to numb even his quasi-saint body.

“What a lunatic!” muttered the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth, only to suddenly notice a basketball-sized, dark red spirit pearl drifting amid the lingering storm.

After a brief hesitation, he flew closer and reached out to grab the giant, dark red spirit pearl. Squinting, he examined it carefully. “So this is the Eye of the Torch Dragon, the ancestral dragon’s eye? It truly is no ordinary item!”

“Hm?” Sensing many auras approaching from afar, and realizing this was the Dragon Clan’s forbidden land, the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth knew the commotion would surely attract attention. Not wanting to become entangled with the Dragon Clan, he quickly stowed the Eye of the Torch Dragon and used spatial teleportation to leave.

A half day later, on a solitary island in the sea, the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth sat cross-legged on the beach, gazing at the basketball-sized, dark red spirit pearl in his hand, his expression hesitant.

The Eye of the Torch Dragon was a treasure, but it carried the karmic burden of the Dragon Clan, and so was heavy with murderous energy. If this karmic burden was not resolved, using the Eye would inevitably have many side effects and bring much trouble to the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth. However, to resolve this karmic burden, it seemed there was only one way: to expend the power of merit.

Though the Red Lotus of Karma could also resolve karma, it was only effective against ordinary burdens. The karma attached to the Eye of the Torch Dragon was the karma of the Heavenly Dao itself; even the flames of the Red Lotus could not dissolve it.

“No investment, no reward. It’s just some merit power, isn’t it? I’ll use it!” With a slight clench of his teeth, the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth decisively used his own merit to dissolve the karmic burden on the Eye of the Torch Dragon. Enduring the pain, he spent about one percent of his total merit, but finally managed to purge all the karma from the eye.

Freed from karmic entanglement, the Eye of the Torch Dragon’s glow became deeper and more restrained, changing from dark red to black, resembling a true black eyeball.

Seeing the restrained power of the Eye of the Torch Dragon, the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth finally willed a strand of his divine sense into it to sense its nature.

Buzz… In an instant, blazing red light flickered on the Eye of the Torch Dragon, and a formless wave spread out, while a mysterious stream of information surged into the Ancestor’s mind.

Moments later, as the eye’s brilliance withdrew, the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth’s eyes opened wide, a spark of excitement flashing within. “The Eye of the Torch Dragon… So this is how the technique is cultivated. Ancestral Dragon, I truly must thank you for leaving me such a formidable trump card.”
