Chapter 112: Nuwa Intervenes
In truth, Di Jun’s way of wielding the Chaos Clock was far less potent than using it for long-range attacks. However, if Daoist Yuantu had not feigned injury by spitting blood when caught off guard, wouldn’t he have inadvertently revealed that he was not merely a Quasi-Sage of the Second Corpse, but possessed the strength of a Third Corpse Quasi-Sage?
Though Daoist Yuantu was of a decisive and vengeful nature, he was no fool; he understood well that discretion was the better part of valor. A mere Di Jun did not have the power to force him to reveal his full strength. Moreover, with the strength of a Second Corpse Quasi-Sage, protected by supreme spiritual treasures like the Twelfth-Grade Fire Red Lotus and the Yuantu and Abi divine swords, the disguise of Old Ancestor Minghe was sufficient to intimidate the other Quasi-Sage powerhouses of the Prehistoric World, ensuring they would not provoke him lightly.
By fighting Di Jun, Donghuang Taiyi, and Kunpeng, and even storming the Heavenly Court, Daoist Yuantu aimed to flex his muscles and let the great powers of the world witness his madness. Surely, no one would be eager to cross a powerful lunatic.
"Ha! Di Jun, I never expected you to have such a trick up your sleeve. Now, this is becoming interesting!" Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth with a laugh, Daoist Yuantu erupted with energy, wielding the Yuantu and Abi swords to unleash the powers of destruction and death as he charged at Di Jun once more.
The grim-faced Di Jun, confronted by such a suicidal assault, felt his facial muscles twitch uncontrollably. While cursing the madman internally, a sliver of regret crept into his heart. Had he known Old Ancestor Minghe was this formidable and insane, he would never have lost his composure and intercepted him for the sake of the Grandmist Violet Qi.
However, it was too late for regrets. Looking at the current state of Old Ancestor Minghe, it was clear he would not let this go easily. What to do? There was no choice but to fight. Even if he could not kill him, he had to force him back, or the majesty of the Heavenly Court would be severely tarnished.
Donghuang Taiyi and Kunpeng exchanged a glance and joined the fray, surrounding Daoist Yuantu. The four Quasi-Sage powerhouses engaged in a cataclysmic battle within the Heavenly Court, leaving the Daluo cultivators and other Quasi-Sages of the world in awe. Today, they finally grasped the true meaning of the word "madman," mentally marking Old Ancestor Minghe as the most dangerous person to ever provoke.
"Ha! Exhilarating! Truly exhilarating!" Despite appearing somewhat disheveled while facing three opponents, Daoist Yuantu played the role of a suicidal maniac to perfection, turning the entire Heavenly Court into a chaotic mess. Di Jun and his companions felt a mix of rage and mounting dread. This Old Ancestor Minghe was truly insane.
Moreover, they began to notice that as the battle progressed, his command over the paths of destruction and death seemed to grow sharper and more terrifying. Clearly, the battle itself was deepening Minghe’s insights into these paths.
"This cannot continue," Di Jun and the others realized. As they felt Minghe’s combat prowess slowly rising, they found themselves unable to gain any upper hand, and their composure began to crumble.
Kunpeng couldn't help but transmit his voice to Di Jun: "Demon Emperor, this is not a viable strategy! This Old Ancestor Minghe is clearly using us to hone his own skills. We must notify the Wa Emperor and the Xi Emperor; let them come to our aid and at least force this madman to retreat!"
"That is all we can do," Di Jun thought, feeling deeply humiliated. Since becoming the Demon Emperor, not even the Wu Clan had caused him such agony and loss of face.
However, before he could summon Fuxi and Nuwa, something happened that filled him with true alarm: the Wu Clan had arrived. The Twelve Ancestral Witches, leading a multitude of Great Witches, had stormed the Heavenly Court.
The Wu Clan was far from unintelligent. They had sensed the conflict between Di Jun and Minghe early on. With the battle now raging atop the Heavenly Court, shaking the foundations of the world, how could the Wu Clan be unaware? Realizing this was a perfect opportunity to strike at the Demon Clan, the Twelve Ancestral Witches decided to capitalize on the chaos and lay siege to the Heavenly Court.
"Ha! This is getting fun, truly interesting and spectacular," Daoist Yuantu roared with glee, while Di Jun and his allies wore expressions of grim frustration. "Di Jun, you had better hurry off to hold back those Twelve Ancestral Witches! Otherwise, they will be here soon. Do not worry about me; after all, your Demon Clan is vast. No matter how strong I am, how many of your kin could I possibly slaughter in such a short time? Right?"
Upon hearing this, Di Jun and his companions nearly vomited blood. They had made a grave miscalculation. For the sake of the Grandmist Violet Qi, they had provoked this madman and brought a massive crisis upon the Demon Clan. If handled poorly, the Demon Clan would suffer a devastating blow.
"Di Jun, you three go and intercept the Twelve Ancestral Witches. I will handle this Old Ancestor Minghe," a gentle, melodic voice resonated in Di Jun’s ears, bringing him an instant sense of relief and joy.
Noticing the change in Di Jun’s expression, a slightly surprised Daoist Yuantu looked up. A red-clad figure descended from the distance like a phantom. She wore a crimson gown, and her exquisite face carried an indescribable air of majesty and nobility—it was Nuwa.
Almost simultaneously, a towering figure descended from the starry expanse of the Prehistoric world and landed beside her: it was Fuxi.
"Go!" Di Jun bowed slightly to Nuwa and Fuxi, signaled to Donghuang Taiyi and Kunpeng, and rushed off to confront the Twelve Ancestral Witches.
"Nuwa?" Old Ancestor Minghe narrowed his eyes, his aura thick with malevolence. "What, do you also covet my Grandmist Violet Qi?"
Nuwa replied with cold indifference: "Minghe, I already possess the Grandmist Violet Qi; why would I covet yours? However, I am the Wa Emperor of the Demon Clan. I cannot stand by while my people are in danger. Given your status, it is unbecoming to personally slaughter the demon army."
"Is that so? Nuwa, are you reprimanding me?" Old Ancestor Minghe sneered. "What I, Old Ancestor Minghe, choose to do is not for others to judge. Besides, if Di Jun and his lot hadn't provoked me first, would I have come to the Heavenly Court to slaughter without cause? Tell me, Nuwa, who is right and who is wrong in this matter?"
Hearing this, Nuwa frowned: "Minghe, even if Di Jun was in the wrong first, you have caused enough chaos and killed enough soldiers. It is time to withdraw. Do you truly wish to fight my Demon Clan to the death?"
"To the death? Hmph, I am a lone wolf; what do I have to fear? Nuwa, do you think I fear the Demon Clan?" Minghe scoffed with disdain. His "barefoot" attitude—having nothing to lose—left Nuwa feeling a headache coming on.
Suddenly, Minghe laughed. "However, since you have come in person today, I will grant you this favor."
"I shall leave and return to the Nether Blood Sea to cultivate, and I will never provoke the Demon Clan again. But, if Di Jun and his companions dare to covet my Grandmist Violet Qi once more, do not blame me for joining forces with the Wu Clan to fight the Demon Clan to the very end," he added, his voice turning icy and stern.
Watching as Minghe swept his sleeves and departed, Nuwa let out a sigh of relief. "This Old Ancestor Minghe is truly troublesome. Whoever offends him will surely face endless headaches."
"It seems that from now on, no one will dare to snatch his Grandmist Violet Qi," Fuxi remarked with a sigh. "If this Old Ancestor Minghe achieves Sainthood, he will be even more untouchable. He will likely be the most feared Sage, and even the other Sages will be wary of him."
Achieving Sainthood? Hearing his brother’s words, Nuwa’s brows furrowed even deeper. Once Minghe became a Sage, how much more difficult would he be to deal with? She feared she would not be the only one suffering from such a headache in the future.
