Volume One, Chapter 51: Spellcasting Failure
The dormitory was under strict management, with no outsiders allowed entry. Su Tong pulled her suitcase up to the dormitory building on her own. The freshmen's dormitories were in excellent condition: four-person rooms, each with a balcony, a bathroom, and even air conditioning.
When Su Tong arrived, someone was already there.
"The old servant was merely overcome by longing for her husband, unable to restrain her emotions, so the tears flowed. Just now, I was only speaking to myself," the princess said, continuing to wipe her tears.
The person found all their intended words blocked by Lin Ying's steady stream of conversation, leaving them at a loss for words. Someone nearby picked up the conversation.
After Lin Feng hung up the phone, he took the matter very seriously. The other party was a leading figure in the mobile phone industry; perhaps in the future, when Futuristic Technology Company launched their phones, they would become direct competitors. Lin Feng felt it was wise to be cautious.
As old Song began to speak, those gathered for the spectacle started to chatter all at once. Listening to them, the old man nearly fainted from anger, and it was only thanks to his two sons supporting him that he remained upright.
Lin Tian frowned, ordering the sea beast to continue southward. He himself closed his eyes, sending his spiritual sense stretching far into the distance.
That afternoon, Yu Genshan, the political commissar, and the chief of staff sat around a square table, poring over a map and analyzing the enemy situation. Fang Jiren, full of energy, entered the ancestral hall with two disheveled, dirt-streaked Nationalist officers, their loud quarrel echoing as they walked in.
The two had little to say to each other. They simply teamed up to hunt monsters, indifferent to the world's curses and complaints.
Though Huarong felt wronged, he kept silent, knowing that at this moment, he could only serve as Huari's outlet for anger. He let her scream herself hoarse, always standing at her side, refusing to leave.
The terrifying monster was still nowhere to be seen; the rustling sounds had ceased. But the tremors in the ground grew steadily more pronounced, as if a volcano was stirring beneath them, or a thousand galloping horses approached ever closer.
Fang Jiren drew a sharp dagger from the inside of his wide leather belt, picked up a bottle, and slowly poured strong liquor over the blade, using seventy-proof spirits to clean and disinfect it.
Ye Bai's sword flashed, leaving a deep gash on the monkey's back. The monkey turned, its face twisted and ferocious, eyes filled with bitter hatred, before it dissolved into a wisp of black smoke and vanished.
That disciple couldn't discern Xu Qi's level, realizing only that the other's cultivation far surpassed his own, which was the only reason for such disparity.
"It wasn't me. Just now, a man in black suddenly burst in and snatched the broken blade. Senior Brother Yuanhong tried to stop him, but was accidentally injured," Li Yuncheng said as he knelt, trying to pull the blade free to save Yuanhong's life, but Zhuge Tong shoved him aside, shielding Yuanhong and refusing to let anyone touch him.
Atop the mountain platform stood a vast black hall, from which powerful restrictive energies faintly emanated.
Yet the sky remained unchanged. Instead, the threads of blood grew ever more tangible and thick, starkly visible, while the glow of the ‘sapphires’ flickered and dimmed, on the verge of extinction.
A mouth full of fangs and a blood-red eye pressed close to a man's face, as if it could swallow him whole in one bite.
Blood Moon stared at Xiao Nu in shock. For the first time, he realized this young master was far more than a mere seeker of the Way—he was shrouded in mystery. Though obviously of much lower cultivation, he had detected the distant disturbance before Blood Moon himself had noticed; this alone deepened Blood Moon’s respect and awe.
Things had come this far. Master Li Youbi of the White Jade Immortal Court had already adopted a sufficiently humble attitude; there was no reason to scheme further against Xu Qi over such matters. If Xu Qi found out in the future, it would only reflect poorly.
Mi Dou, however, silently wondered if that monster, when bringing him back, had also caused a bit of trouble along the way.
