Volume One, Chapter 29: It Is a Demon
Su Beibei quickly replied,
"I'll be shooting all morning tomorrow, probably won't be free until around one o'clock. Let them come to find me at that time."
Then he sent another message,
"Will you be coming along?"
Three Divinations a Day: "I will come with them. Weren't you planning to have your fortune told? I'll do it for you right then."
"Beibei, filming's starting," called the assistant, Li Yuanyuan.
"Coming,"
Su Beibei happily put away his phone.
*******
Su Tong had just finished dinner with Xiao Shiwei and Luo Xia when she received Su Beibei's reply.
She told the two, "Su Beibei will be here at nine tomorrow morning, but won't be free until one. That's when we'll go ask him for his autograph."
Luo Xia's eyes widened in shock, her voice nearly cracking with excitement.
"How do you know? Do you actually know Su Beibei?"
Su Tong nodded, smiling at Luo Xia.
"I do. He's my client."
Xiao Shiwei was equally incredulous. "Su Beibei came to you for a fortune reading?"
Seeing Su Tong nod again, Luo Xia jumped up and hugged her tightly.
"Su Tong, you're amazing! My idol is actually your fan!"
In Luo Xia's mind, Su Tong was extraordinary—everyone who had their fortune read by her was inevitably impressed.
Su Tong: "..."
The next day, at nine.
Su Beibei's car arrived punctually at the hotel.
Luo Xia and Xiao Shiwei went to watch him film.
Xiao Shiwei was naturally lively; her sadness dissipated quickly. The gloom she felt yesterday, worried about impending misfortune, vanished completely the moment she saw Su Beibei.
Su Tong, uninterested in celebrity fandom, stayed in her room to cultivate her practice.
After lunch, Su Tong, Xiao Shiwei, and Luo Xia went to Su Beibei's lounge.
Assistant Li Yuanyuan waited at the door; after confirming their identities, she opened the door and let them in.
Su Beibei wore a red t-shirt and white pants, with light makeup for the shoot.
In person, he was far more handsome and vibrant than any photo—there was even a hint of seductive charm about him.
Luo Xia and Xiao Shiwei's eyes shone with excitement; they clutched their photos tightly to keep from screaming aloud.
Su Tong, meanwhile, was stunned by the golden glow of merit radiating from Su Beibei.
What was happening in this world?
Had merit become so cheap?
She had already encountered three people enveloped in the golden light of merit.
Looking closer, Su Beibei's glow was different from that of Xiao Shiyu and Ye Mo.
His merit carried a hint of demonic aura.
He had not been human in his previous life—he was a demon.
Su Beibei heard the door open and looked up to see three beautiful girls enter.
He recognized Su Tong at a glance.
She wore a white dress and was even more beautiful and pure than she appeared in her livestreams.
Her whole aura was ethereal, almost otherworldly, as if standing at the very center of existence.
Her large, dark eyes were brilliantly clear, as if they could see straight into one's soul.
For a moment, none of the four spoke.
Luo Xia reacted first, stepped up to Su Beibei, and gave him a dazzling smile.
"Su Beibei, I'm your fan. Could you sign something for me?"
Su Beibei was amiable, smiling gently, "Of course. Where should I sign?"
Luo Xia handed him an artbook, and Su Beibei signed his name on the first page.
Xiao Shiwei followed, handing over a T-shirt printed with Su Beibei's photo. She smiled, "Su Beibei, I'm also a fan. Could you sign this for me too?"
"Sure,"
Su Beibei quickly signed his name.
Luo Xia and Xiao Shiwei knew Su Tong was about to give Su Beibei a fortune reading, so after chatting a bit more, they left.
When only Su Beibei and Su Tong remained in the lounge,
Su Beibei looked at Su Tong, his tone somewhat excited, "Master, please sit."
Su Tong sat down on the sofa beside him with a confident smile.
"No need to call me Master. Just call me Su Tong."
She glanced at the table in front of Su Beibei and noticed a set of advanced mathematics papers, half-completed.
She couldn't help but smile.
Seeing this, Su Beibei felt a bit embarrassed and hurriedly put the papers away, explaining softly,
"I might be joining a film crew in the second half of the year and won't have much time for classes, so I'm studying ahead."
Su Beibei was still a university student, and he had to keep up with coursework; failing a class meant no diploma.
The university would not make exceptions for him just because he was a top star.
Seeing Su Beibei's reaction, Su Tong couldn't help but smile further, affirming, "There's no need to feel embarrassed. Diligence in learning is a fine virtue."
"Thank you,"
Su Beibei thanked her and got to the point.
"Actually, I wanted to ask for your advice on which script I should accept."
Su Tong: "Tell me the details."
Su Beibei explained carefully,
"I'm considering two scripts.
One is the third male lead in 'Lotus Pavilion,' an optimistic, resilient character, a little ray of sunshine—quite similar to my own personality.
The other is the male lead in 'Dark Lotus Reborn'—moody, obsessive, fragile, very challenging.
Both scripts and their teams are excellent, and I'm torn between them."
Su Tong examined Su Beibei's features.
His facial structure was balanced, his wealth palace full and lustrous—this was the face of someone destined for great fame and lifelong prosperity.
Whichever script he chose, he would become popular.
However, the entertainment industry was always chaotic; after fame, who knew what might happen?
Thinking of this, Su Tong asked, "Do you have recent photos of other members of these casts?"
Su Beibei replied, "I do. The male lead for 'Lotus Pavilion' and the female lead for 'Dark Lotus Reborn' have both been confirmed, and they're both respected, accomplished actors in the industry."
He pulled up their photos on his phone for Su Tong to see.
Su Tong glanced quickly, then said, "Choose 'Lotus Pavilion.' The female lead in 'Dark Lotus Reborn' will pair with you for the show, then spread rumors and betray you after the drama airs.
It won't seriously affect your future career, but during that period you'll be attacked online, and may even be hurt."
Su Beibei, having witnessed Su Tong's abilities, trusted her implicitly.
"Alright, I'll do as you say and choose 'Lotus Pavilion.'"
He immediately called his agent and told her his decision.
After hanging up, he looked at Su Tong with admiration.
"Su Tong, thank you for helping me so much. How much for the reading? Name your price."
The wealthy are indeed generous.
Yet, more than money, Su Tong preferred merit.
She thought for a moment and said, "I don't want money; just grant me two merits."
Su Beibei already knew from her livestreams that Su Tong accepted merit, so he agreed without hesitation, "Alright, take it."
