Having just returned from the police station, where he had been forcibly summoned for questioning and subjected to criticism and education for refusing to cooperate with the investigation, Hai Dachuan sat on the disordered sofa. Prominently placed on the coffee table before him was the official document restricting his contact with Hailan.

Now that his daughter had gained fame, he thought his days of enjoying a life of ease had finally arrived, only for He Hongyao, that wretched woman, to sever his path to wealth!

Seeing the government seal on the document filled Hai Dachuan with a vague sense of fear, but he channeled all his anger at He Hongyao.

“You wretched woman! Are you itching for a beating? Hailan is a member of the Hai family! The money she earns is all mine! What right do you have to keep me away from her?!”

A “restriction order” is a legal measure imposed by the court, tailored to specific circumstances, to safeguard certain individuals or groups, preventing them from further harm or harassment.

If the person subjected to the order violates it, the court may impose penalties according to the gravity of the situation, and if the violation constitutes a crime, criminal responsibility may be pursued.

Previously, after discovering that her daughter had been subjected to long-term abuse by Hai Dachuan, He Hongyao had immediately reported him to the police, successfully bringing her daughter home.

With a record already on file, Hai Dachuan had once again struck the child in public. This time, He Hongyao promptly instructed her lawyer to file for a restraining order.

“Since you’ve received the official document, you’d better learn to behave yourself and stay away from my daughter from now on!”

In He Hongyao’s eyes, Hai Dachuan was no better than a maggot in a cesspit.

“Damn it! If I can’t get near that girl Hailan, how am I supposed to get rich?! Where will the money come for my son to get married in the future?!”

Hai Dachuan bared his teeth in fury. After raising that money-losing burden for so long, he had been waiting for this very day—He Hongyao would not be allowed to cut off his source of income!

His eyes darted about as an insidious smile crept across his face. “He Hongyao, you always say I’ve ruined our daughter, but you’re no better yourself! Just look at what Hailan’s become in your hands!

She’s in and out of bars every day, and now she’s even streaming herself online in a disgraceful manner!

Tell me, if I told the police you’ve let your daughter go astray like this, do you think they’d let you keep her?”

He Hongyao was furious at her daughter being so maligned.

“Hai Dachuan! Just what nonsense are you spouting? Hailan performs at bars as a resident singer with her aunt! How can you say such things about your own daughter?”

Hai Dachuan only seemed more pleased with himself. “With He Hongjing? Hmph! Your sister used to hang out with a bunch of men, shaking her head and acting wild every day, and now she’s led my daughter down the same path! I’ll call the police too! I’ll apply for one of those damn restraining orders myself!

You’ll never see your daughter again for as long as you live!”

“Hai Dachuan! My sister is a member of a band—she sings rock and roll! Rock and roll is…” He Hongyao wanted to say that rock and roll was legitimate music, but the words stuck in her throat.

She didn’t understand rock, and the reason she looked askance at her daughter’s singing was because, deep down, she believed rock was just noisy racket made by idle, delinquent youth.

Hai Dachuan sensed her wavering and began to coax her. “Hongyao, I’ve done my research online. The entertainment industry makes a lot of money.

Even if she loses the competition and doesn’t make it in, I’ve seen plenty of people watch her live streams. Streaming is simple—she just has to take off a piece of clothing in front of the camera, and the gifts will start pouring in. That’s all money!

We’re husband and wife—let’s not fight. We should work together…”

Hongyao’s hand trembled as she clutched her phone. Was Hai Dachuan implying that if their daughter failed her performance, she should be pushed into that kind of streaming?

He spoke so matter-of-factly, it was clear he’d been planning this for a long time. Who knew if he might actually do something so vile?

Recalling the scene she’d just witnessed, and with A-lai failing to make it to the venue, it was entirely possible her daughter’s performance would indeed fail.

If worst came to worst, He Hongyao resolved to take her daughter far away after the competition—leave the city, leave the music scene, and never seek the spotlight again, so Hai Dachuan would never find them…

Just then, the TV screen switched to the live venue, and the host, Brother Du, announced:

“Next up, let’s welcome contestant Hailan, bringing us the rock song ‘Uncompromising-ski’!

WU~ Let’s get hyped!!!”

The sound of the television carried through the phone to Hai Dachuan’s ear—he almost burst out laughing, his voice dripping with mockery.

“What a ridiculous name. See? This is proof your sister’s led our daughter astray!”

He Hongjing was no longer affected by Hai Dachuan’s words. She stared intently at the television.

At the live venue, as the curtain slowly opened, a stage that seemed to transcend time gradually emerged.

The lighting had been deliberately adjusted to mimic vintage neon, casting a kaleidoscope of shimmering colors that stood in sharp contrast to the dark surroundings.

The backdrop flickered with black-and-white photos of rock musicians from the 80s and 90s, both domestic and foreign—some clutching guitars, some holding microphones—each pair of eyes brimming with defiance and passion, a testament to their love for music.

Front and center, lead singer Hailan stood in a red sequined jacket, a striking figure. She raised the microphone, her voice brimming with power.

“Hello, everyone! I’m contestant Hailan! Now, please welcome—the ‘Red Blaze’ Band!!!”

With that, she raised both hands as four elevated platforms slowly rose behind her.

The guitarist and bassist positioned themselves to her left and right, while the drummer and keyboardist’s platforms stopped at a higher level. Behind them, multicolored spotlights flashed, casting their silhouettes and those of their instruments in sharp relief.

The dazzling entrance and the vintage yet atmospheric stage left the audience spellbound. Suddenly, the odd name, “Uncompromising-ski,” no longer seemed to matter.

[So this is rock and roll? It looks so cool!]

[Isn’t rock supposed to be really old music? Why is such a young girl singing it? My mother says only bad kids play rock, but she looks so well-behaved—she doesn’t seem that way at all.]

[I’d love to argue with the comment above, but “Uncompromising-ski” really doesn’t sound very proper, hahaha!]

[As a fan, I really only follow Hailan as a person. I just can’t get into the rock music she likes… It’s too old… Stuff from my parents’ generation, I guess…]

[This is a tough round for Hailan. The previous performance was “Dissolve Sorrow”—I still have that melody stuck in my head and am thinking about my life right now. Switching to rock, I’m not sure I’m ready for it.]

[I’ve heard that rock is all about passion, but if it’s done poorly, it’s just electronic noise. I don’t expect this young girl to get me fired up—just as long as it doesn’t turn into a cacophony.]

At the judges’ table, Fang Zhijing sat back and crossed his arms, a faint glimmer of admiration in his eyes as he watched the stage.

Whatever else might be said, “King of All Singers” truly excelled in its stage design—there was real flair here.

Two or three decades ago, rock and roll, as a foreign import, had swept through the Dragon Kingdom. Many rock bands had briefly flourished in the entertainment industry.

Their moment was fleeting, though, because there were too few outstanding domestic rock songs. To the average person, some heavy metal tracks were indistinguishable from noise.

Rock musicians tended to be individualists, refusing to follow the mainstream. Certain unscrupulous media, eager for attention, preferred to expose and sensationalize the private lives of these distinctive rockers.

Gradually, rock’s image in the public’s eye grew worse and worse. At some point, it became linked with words like “decadent” and “degenerate.”

The rotating images on the stage screen stirred Fang Zhijing’s own memories of rock and roll, and, unexpectedly, he found himself intrigued by this oddly titled song.
