At this moment, within SkullGreymon’s body, it felt as though an unceasing river was constantly eroding the minds of Agumon and BlackAgumon. Meanwhile, the Holy Ring had erected a dam to intercept this corrupting flood of garbled code.

Once the dam breached, this corrupted power of garbled data would erupt tenfold, a hundredfold more fiercely.

At that time, the already overtaxed souls of Agumon and BlackAgumon would likely be instantly devoured by the chaotic data, transforming them into a SkullGreymon devoid of all reason.

"Understood."

The black and white flames within SkullGreymon’s empty eye sockets glowed simultaneously. Feeling the power of the garbled data temporarily halted, both Agumon and BlackAgumon felt a profound sense of relief in their hearts.

Given a choice, neither of them wished to perish just yet.

"That's wonderful!"

Hearing Angewomon's words, a flash of joy crossed Zhao Jie's face.

This was a pleasant surprise. With Angewomon's power now helping Agumon and BlackAgumon suppress the corrupting code data, it could be said that they had bought themselves a substantial amount of time.

"Let's move out now. Our objective is to find the Sun Source Stone!"

Leaping up from the ground, Zhao Jie looked at the two Digimon before him and said.

"But where should we go?"

Angewomon glanced around. Lush trees stretched endlessly into the distance, and rolling mountain ranges loomed further away. Finding an area where the Sun Source Stone might possibly exist would likely be no easy task.

"Uh..."

Zhao Jie rubbed the back of his head, his expression somewhat awkward.

"There was a long river near the place where we were staying before. On the opposite bank, there seems to be a Digimon tribe. We can go there to gather information."

Through soul resonance, Agumon's voice echoed in Zhao Jie's mind.

A Digimon tribe was formed by numerous Digimon. Unlike wild Digimon, most of those belonging to a tribe possessed intelligence comparable to that of humans.

Furthermore, a typical Digimon tribe consisted of only a single species, with only a very few exceptions housing a mixture of multiple different kinds.

"A Digimon tribe?"

Zhao Jie was stunned for a moment, but quickly recovered.

If a Digimon tribe truly existed there, they would certainly be very familiar with the surrounding environment, and perhaps they really could obtain some useful intelligence.

"Lead the way!"

One human and two Digimon quickly headed toward the location Agumon had mentioned. After more than an hour, they appeared at the edge of that long river.

The river flowed endlessly, and Zhao Jie even spotted a MegaSeadramon swimming quite leisurely downstream.

"It really is a tribe?"

Standing by the riverbank, one could see some crude stone houses scattered across the opposite side.

However, how to cross over now presented a problem. Zhao Jie and Angewomon could easily make the crossing, but for SkullGreymon, it would be somewhat difficult.

The width of this large river was not insignificant—at least five hundred meters across—and SkullGreymon would probably not be able to cross it at all.

"Never mind, the two of you wait here for us. Angewomon and I will go across!"

"Woo..."

SkullGreymon nodded. There was simply no other way.

Given their massive size, Angewomon probably couldn't carry them, so they had no choice but to stay behind.

"Swish!"

Angewomon scooped up Zhao Jie and flew toward the opposite riverbank.

In a short while, the two of them appeared on the other side.

The stone houses, which hadn't been very distinct from afar, now came into clear view before Zhao Jie.

Yet, after seeing them clearly, Zhao Jie's heart sank with disappointment.

Judging by the condition of the stone houses, it had been a very long time since any Digimon had been active here. In other words, this was merely an abandoned Digimon settlement.

"Let's take a look around anyway!"

Although he no longer held any expectations for this abandoned Digimon tribe, this was the first time he had ever discovered one.

The massive stone houses indicated that this Digimon tribe existed in an era equivalent to the Stone Age of human civilization.

"Hey, what is this?"

Angewomon's voice rang out from not far away.

"What is it?"

Hearing Angewomon's voice, Zhao Jie stepped out of the stone house he was in and walked toward the one from which the sound had come.

"Nothing much, I found a mural here."

Seeing that Zhao Jie had already appeared at the entrance, Angewomon pointed at the stone wall and said.

A mural?

Following the direction of Angewomon's finger, Zhao Jie's gaze also fell upon the stone wall.

"Oh, this is..."

The stone wall depicted a large number of Digimon working together to build a towering tower. Among them were Champion and Ultimate level Digimon, and even a vast multitude of Mega level Digimon.

"MetalGarurumon, WarGreymon, SaberLeomon, Phoenixmon?"

Hiss!

Looking at the contents of the mural, Zhao Jie drew a sharp breath.

Humanoid Digimon such as Leomon, Angewomon, and WarGreymon were doing hard labor, while beast-form Digimon like MetalGarurumon and Phoenixmon occupied high positions, watching all of this with cold detachment.

Behind the tower, a pair of black-purple wings stretched outward.

"Angewomon, do you recognize those wings?"

Pointing to the black-purple wings unfolding behind the tower in the mural, Zhao Jie asked Angewomon, who was also examining the artwork.

"I don't."

Angewomon looked closely at it for a few moments, shook her head, and replied.

You don't recognize them?

Hearing Angewomon's answer, Zhao Jie fell back into deep thought.

The contents of the mural reminded Zhao Jie of a specific term.

The Form Wars!

A world war between beast-forms and humanoid-forms initiated by Cherubimon, one of the Three Great Angels of the Digital World.

Following this mural, humanoid Digimon—whether Champion, Ultimate, or Mega—shared only a single status.

They were enslaved!

In stark contrast, the beast-form Digimon enjoyed a considerable degree of freedom regardless of their level.

What made Zhao Jie even more certain of this was the pair of black-purple wings spreading open behind the tower.

Weren't these the wings of Cherubimon after abandoning ultimate goodness?

"Do you feel any sense of familiarity?"

"No."

Hearing Zhao Jie's words, Angewomon furrowed her brow, stared closely at the pair of black-purple wings in the mural for a few moments, and ultimately shook her head once again.

As a holy-type Digimon, the fact that Angewomon did not recognize Cherubimon surprised Zhao Jie quite a bit.

On second thought, however, he let out a mental sigh of understanding.

If this truly depicted scenes from the era of the Form Wars, an unknown length of time had passed since then; it was hardly surprising that Angewomon knew nothing of it.

"Why, do these wings have something to do with me?"

Angewomon asked with a hint of curiosity.

Judging by Zhao Jie's tone, she figured these wings might be related to her in some way, otherwise he wouldn't have kept pressing the question.
