Chapter 104: A Friend of Mine, an Agumon (Fourth Update—Please Subscribe)
“Who are you talking to?” Zhao Jie sensed a subtle fluctuation in Agumon’s emotions just now, as if it was speaking to someone.
“A… good friend.”
The voice of Tyrannomon echoed in Zhao Jie’s mind.
A good friend?
Pondering this, Zhao Jie glanced thoughtfully at Tyrannomon but did not press further. Instead, his gaze shifted to the pitiful figure of Professor Zhou Jie.
“Professor Zhou, I didn’t expect this, but in the end, I won.”
Now that Tyrannomon had returned to normal and was under Tyrannomon’s protection, Zhou Jie could no longer pose any threat to him.
“Cough, cough…”
Zhou Jie coughed incessantly. Blood was already staining the ground around him, and upon closer inspection, a massive wound marred his waist.
“Why?”
Ignoring Zhao Jie, Zhou Jie looked toward Tyrannomon, perplexed. With the immense dark power of the Apocalypse Beast within, why hadn’t Tyrannomon undergone the super evolution he had expected? And why had the dark power within Tyrannomon’s body vanished, returning him to normal?
He could not rest in peace without unraveling this mystery.
Alas, he would never learn the answer.
“Cough, cough, ugh!”
Spitting a mouthful of blood, Zhou Jie raised a trembling hand to wipe the crimson at the corner of his lips, his gaze lifting toward the sky.
There, two fully evolved Digimon were locked in fierce combat.
However, the Infernal Giant Crowmon had gained the upper hand. Under its relentless assault, Valkyrimon was struggling to defend.
“Have you really won? I’m not so sure.”
“Cough, cough…”
Zhou Jie shifted his eyes, looking at Zhao Jie and the Tyrannomon beside him. He could feel his life force ebbing away; death was imminent.
Buzzing…
The digital energy within his body surged forth, transforming into a beam of light that shot toward Infernal Giant Crowmon.
Having done this, he lay down on the ground in resignation, awaiting the end of his life.
Jiahui,
All these years have passed, and I miss you so much!
I’m so tired. I’m coming to find you soon. Please wait for me.
…
The beam of digital energy struck Infernal Giant Crowmon, instantly stiffening its massive form.
“Destroy everything!”
This was the first and last command Zhou Jie had given it since the death of its mistress.
It could feel that its master’s life flickered like a candle, ready to be snuffed out at any moment.
“Then, let everything be destroyed!”
Infernal Giant Crowmon murmured inwardly, surrendering to the dark power of the Apocalypse Beast that engulfed its very soul. It allowed the dark energy to bolster itself, letting the darkness seize control of its mind.
A roar!
Blazing infernal flames surged from its body, which doubled in size in an instant. Its wings spread like dark clouds hanging from the heavens.
A vast shadow loomed over Zhao Jie’s head.
Whoosh!
Scorching hot air rose within the area.
Pfft!
The infernal flames dyed the sky a deep purple, and embers continuously dripped from the heavens, turning the scene into something reminiscent of an apocalypse.
“Go!”
With Tyrannomon’s help, Zhao Jie mounted its back, and Tyrannomon dashed forward at full speed.
Boom!
A muffled explosion sounded in the sky. Zhao Jie looked up to see Valkyrimon plummeting like a meteor, hurtling toward the earth.
“Save Valkyrimon!”
Zhao Jie’s voice rang in Tyrannomon’s ears.
The Infernal Giant Crowmon had grown even stronger, and its sudden assault dealt Valkyrimon a heavy blow.
Though no digital fusion had occurred, a sharp pain pierced Zhao Jie’s brow—Valkyrimon had fallen from its fully evolved state to the mature form.
Huff…
The rush of wind whistled past their ears as Tyrannomon swiftly headed toward Valkyrimon’s crash site at Zhao Jie’s command.
Bang!
Valkyrimon’s impact gouged out a crater the size of a football field. Surrounding plants and trees turned to dust, dissipating into the air.
Bang!
Even Tyrannomon was pushed back by the force of the strike, conjuring a digital energy shield around its body to protect Zhao Jie from the shockwave.
Once the impact subsided, Tyrannomon pressed onward, leaping into the crater.
“Valkyrimon!”
Zhao Jie dismounted and hurried to the center, where a small Protomon lay unconscious.
Valkyrimon had been struck back to its growth stage by Infernal Giant Crowmon’s attack!
“It’s not too bad!”
Zhao Jie was relieved to see Protomon was not in any immediate danger. He gently picked it up.
“Let’s go!”
Before he could finish speaking, the area was suddenly shrouded in shadow as Infernal Giant Crowmon blocked their escape. Darkness fell like night itself.
“We probably won’t get away.”
Tyrannomon’s voice echoed in Zhao Jie’s mind.
The oppressive aura alone doubled the pressure on Tyrannomon. If a fight broke out, Tyrannomon wouldn’t withstand a single blow.
“Gah…”
A piercing roar erupted from Infernal Giant Crowmon’s mouth. The powerful sound waves made Zhao Jie’s head feel as if it might explode.
“Roar!”
Tyrannomon howled in pain, collapsing to the ground involuntarily.
What now?
Seeing Tyrannomon like this, Zhao Jie’s heart sank.
“Don’t worry, I have a plan.”
Tyrannomon’s voice resonated in Zhao Jie’s mind. Before Zhao Jie could ask, Tyrannomon began to transform.
Starting from its head, dark fur sprouted rapidly over its body.
In the blink of an eye, Zhao Jie realized—
Tyrannomon had transformed back into the Black Tyrannomon he had seen before!
“Black Tyrannomon, I’m counting on you!”
In his mind, Agumon, who had just exchanged control of the body with Black Agumon, smiled warmly and addressed his dear friend.
“You’re so weak!”
Black Tyrannomon mocked Agumon but was visibly invigorated. Agumon’s actions proved that his words had not been lies.
Originally, Black Tyrannomon thought Agumon wouldn’t relinquish control so easily, but to his surprise, he had regained command of the body so swiftly.
“What is this…”
Zhao Jie stared at the Black Tyrannomon before him. The aura radiating from it was vastly different from Tyrannomon’s earlier presence. He was certain this was no longer the same Tyrannomon.
“Y-You’re… hello.”
Thanks to Agumon’s evolutionary runes, Black Tyrannomon’s cautious yet admiring voice sounded in Zhao Jie’s mind.
“You are the Black Tyrannomon?”
“Yes, yes. We share the same body.”
After saying this, Black Tyrannomon hurriedly explained, fearing Zhao Jie might misunderstand, “But rest assured, it’s usually him who’s in control.”
A sudden clarity dawned on Zhao Jie. He had been curious about the friend Agumon mentioned—it turned out to be Black Tyrannomon.
“Then, I’m counting on you, Black Tyrannomon!”
