“So it was the lingering will of a great Buddhist master from ancient times. Yet, within that lingering will, he truly left behind the Sutra of Salvation.”
Not long after Chen Fengyun eradicated the statue, he discovered that the lingering will was, in fact, that of a mighty Buddhist figure from ages past, deeply hidden within the prayer beads.
Upon refining this lingering will, Chen Fengyun not only experienced a tremendous surge in his spiritual awareness, but he also acquired a scripture—a formidable Sutra of Salvation renowned in the Buddhist tradition.
Moreover, Chen Fengyun learned the origins of the malignant presence within the pagoda. It turned out to be an ancient fiend, one that had attempted to corrupt a virtuous high monk of Jinshan Temple. Ultimately, the fiend devoured the monk, but most of its evil essence was burned away by Buddhist power, leaving it sealed within the stone pagoda.
Nevertheless, a fragment of the fiend’s essence endured, and over centuries it gradually regained strength, relentlessly corroding the monk’s spiritual consciousness. When the high monk’s physical form was destroyed, his consciousness entered the prayer beads.
For centuries, the monk’s spirit had nearly faded beneath the malignant influence, leaving only a wisp of memory. Had Chen Fengyun not arrived, even that last remnant would not have lasted a few more years.
“So that’s how it is. I always wondered why such an evil presence existed in this stone pagoda; now I finally understand,” Chen Fengyun sighed.
He then turned his gaze to the prayer beads in hand, noticing that each bead bore a mysterious character, unlike any script known on Earth.
Contemplating for a moment, he extended his spiritual sense into the beads. The result astounded him: within these six prayer beads, another Buddhist inheritance lay dormant—the mantra of the Six Syllables, ‘Om Mani Padme Hum.’
The Six Syllable Mantra, ‘Om Mani Padme Hum,’ is the sacred invocation of the Greatly Compassionate Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, originating from Sanskrit. It symbolizes the mercy and blessings of all Bodhisattvas, and is also called the Great Six-Syllable Bright Mantra.
Its meanings are profound and inexhaustible, encompassing supreme power, wisdom, and compassion of the universe. It is said to purify the karmic afflictions of countless lifetimes, as if the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas themselves were bestowing their blessings upon the devotee, representing six forms of wisdom to dispel the unique sufferings of all beings across the six realms.
Om: The white radiance of the Wisdom of Equality, purifying arrogance and ego in the heavenly realm, cutting off the suffering of downfall and change.
Ma: The green light of the Wisdom of Accomplishment, purifying jealousy in the realm of the Asuras, ending the suffering of strife.
Ni: The yellow brilliance of Innate Wisdom, purifying ignorance and greed in the human realm, eliminating the disasters of birth, aging, sickness, death, and poverty.
Pad: The blue glow of the Wisdom of the Dharmadhatu, purifying the ignorance of animals, dispelling the suffering of darkness and muteness.
Me: The red ray of the Wisdom of Discriminating Insight, purifying stinginess among hungry ghosts, ending the torment of hunger and thirst.

Hum: The black-blue luster of the Great Mirror Wisdom, purifying hatred in hell, bringing an end to the agonies of heat and cold.
Chen Fengyun was not familiar with the meaning of the Six Syllable Mantra. However, after searching online, he found some information. Still, he knew that what he found could not compare to the truth, for the genuine Six Syllable Mantra, when empowered, represented six distinct abilities.
These abilities were: amplification of strength, defense, speed, absorption of attacks, reflection of attacks, and spiritual assault. When paired with the corresponding hand seals, each invoked one of these powers.
“Hahaha! Even if I can’t directly elevate my cultivation to the tenth stage of Mortal Rank, obtaining the Sutra of Salvation and the Six Syllable Mantra seals is an unprecedented harvest!”
Chen Fengyun laughed heartily, then spent ten attribute points to raise his cultivation to the ninth level of Qi Refinement. After some thought, he used his remaining eight points to advance his Alchemy to the fifth stage of Mortal Rank, and both the Sutra of Salvation and Six Syllable Mantra to the seventh stage of Mortal Rank.
With the Sutra of Salvation at the seventh stage, Chen Fengyun could now subtly influence ordinary people through his words, making them heed his every command and even turning them into devotees. This demonstrated the Sutra’s remarkable power and profundity.
Moreover, the Sutra of Salvation would prove even more effective against ghosts and sinister spirits, as well as animals whose intelligence had yet to awaken—they, too, would fall under its sway.
With the enhanced Six Syllable Mantra, Chen Fengyun could now use the prayer beads to invoke all six seals, dramatically boosting his strength—many times more powerful than before.
Afterward, Chen Fengyun noticed that his cultivation system panel had become even more elaborate, though it now also demanded more attribute points for advancement.

Afterward, Chen Fengyun continued to search the valley but found nothing else of note, though he did discover the ruins of the original Jinshan Temple, now reduced to desolation with nothing of value left behind.
“It’s about time to leave. Now that the source of evil has been destroyed, there’s no need to place arrays at the valley entrance, nor does Uncle Thirteen need to keep watch by the West Lake,” Chen Fengyun mused as he walked toward the valley’s mouth. He remembered the cloud mass hovering above the West Lake—its vastness held unknown energies, yet at present, he dared not even approach it, lest he be obliterated in an instant.
“No matter what you are, one day I shall unveil your true nature and behold your real face,” Chen Fengyun resolved, forcing himself to set aside distracting thoughts.
“Fengyun, how did things go? I saw the mists in the valley gradually dispersing. I wanted to come in and find you, but the array you set up blocked my way—I couldn’t get through.”
When Chen Fengyun reached the entrance, Uncle Thirteen asked anxiously. As soon as he saw Chen Fengyun nod, his tension melted away, knowing the evil presence had been vanquished.
“It’s gone. I’ll retrieve these array flags now. The valley can be developed and used again,” Chen Fengyun said, collecting the flags he had placed earlier.
“This whole valley is my property. I bought the land to prevent ordinary folks from wandering in by mistake. Now that it’s safe, I’ll donate the land to Jinshan Temple so they can restore the ancient monastery,” Uncle Thirteen nodded.
Chen Fengyun said nothing to this; after all, it was Uncle Thirteen’s property and his decision to make. He simply nodded.
“Was there anything inside?” On the way back, Uncle Thirteen couldn’t help but ask.
“There was the remains of an evil demon’s body—its origins are unknown. I’ve purified it now, but I did obtain this artifact.” Without concealment, Chen Fengyun handed the prayer beads to Uncle Thirteen for inspection.
