Chapter 154: The Yagyu Ancestor
Not only did that man confess the reason for his coming, but he also revealed the details of the others who had entered Huaxia with him. Chen Fengyun ultimately executed him on the spot and used spiritual fire to reduce his corpse to nothing but a handful of ash.
Shortly after, overnight, some six or seven Japanese martial artists who had infiltrated Huaxia all met their ends in different locations. They vanished completely without a trace, leaving behind neither bones nor any clues to follow.
"Hmph, this alone is not enough to truly strike fear into the hearts of the Japanese. I might as well head over to Japan tonight and take some lives."
Chen Fengyun knew that Kazuo Yasui was the master of the Yagyu Sect, the largest martial arts school in Japan, and enjoyed a massive following. Although he was dead, the Yagyu Sect remained the most formidable martial faction in the country.
Without sparing a thought for the consumption of his spiritual energy, Chen Fengyun directly employed his sword flight technique and soared toward Japan. In the span of a single night, he crossed tens of thousands of kilometers, arriving at the foot of Mount Fuji—the headquarters of the Yagyu Sect—just as dawn broke over Tokyo.
"Baka! What kind of madman dares to trespass in the Yagyu Sect?"
Because Chen Fengyun made no effort to conceal his presence, a Yagyu grandmaster quickly detected him, roaring as he shot up into the sky, which in turn alerted even more powerful figures within the sect.
"I am the one who killed Kazuo Yasui, and I have come here today for one purpose only: to eradicate the Yagyu Sect." Chen Fengyun's cold and majestic voice echoed through the upper air.
"Baka! Kill this Huaxia dog!"
"Damn him! Avenge Master Yasui!"
"Take his life!"
"Call in more men!"
"Don't let him escape!"
Instantly, the martial artists of the Yagyu Sect began shouting frantically, continuously summoning reinforcements. Two other grandmasters within the compound also took to the air, charging toward Chen Fengyun simultaneously with the first.
Chen Fengyun decided to play along with them. Since he observed that the Yagyu sect members were still calling for backup, rather than wasting time hunting down their experts all over the place, it was much more efficient to let them gather on their own.
Sure enough, seeing the three grandmasters forcing Chen Fengyun into continuous retreat—making it look as though he was barely holding his own—the surrounding Yagyu martial artists marveled at his strength while excitedly chattering among themselves, utterly convinced that they would succeed today in slaying him to avenge Kazuo Yasui.
Before long, two more grandmasters arrived on the scene, joining the ranks of those assaulting Chen Fengyun. Yet, the disciples watching from the ground noticed that even with the addition of two more grandmasters, they still failed to subdue this Huaxia intruder.
Half an hour later, the number of grandmasters besieging Chen Fengyun swelled to seven. Aside from the Yagyu Sect's own experts, powerful figures from nearby Japanese martial arts schools had also rushed over to lend assistance.
"I've played with you long enough."
With a sudden, cold grunt, Chen Fengyun summoned his flying sword to unleash a wave of attacks on the surrounding foes while simultaneously releasing the Earth Dragon to ravage the ordinary martial artists on the ground.
"Ah! What kind of monster is this?"
"Help! Is anyone going to save me?"
"Amaterasu, protect us!"
"Run for your lives!"
Panic erupted as the Japanese fighters scattered in all directions. Their attacks were utterly ineffective against the Earth Dragon, which slaughtered dozens of them in the blink of an eye. Like startled birds and panicked beasts, they broke formation and fled in complete disarray, yet none could escape the relentless pursuit of the beast.
As for the grandmasters, once Chen Fengyun unleashed his true power, they were cut down in half one by one, then engulfed by a bizarre, unholy flame that burned them amidst agonizingly wretched screams.
"Boom..."
Suddenly, the Earth Dragon came under attack. The assailant was an elderly Japanese man with hair as white as snow, yet his aura was overwhelmingly powerful—he was undoubtedly a supreme grandmaster.
"Ancestor Yagyu! Save us!"
"The Ancestor has appeared! That Huaxia bastard and his demonic pet are dead for sure!"
"Die, Huaxia dog!"
Seeing the arrival of this aged warrior, the surviving members of the Yagyu Sect erupted in cheers. Some who had fled far into the distance even turned around and came back, placing absolute faith in this ancient powerhouse.
"Roar..."
However, driven into a frenzy, the Earth Dragon went wild, unexpectedly fighting the old man to a standstill. This left the Japanese spectators dumbfounded. Moments later, Chen Fengyun rushed forward to take over the fight against the old man himself, while the Earth Dragon tore once more into the ranks of the panic-stricken Japanese, sending them fleeing anew with renewed wails and cries for mercy.
"Huaxia boy, are you the one who killed Kazuo Yasui?" Ancestor Yagyu stared coldly at Chen Fengyun and demanded.
"Old bastard, are you asking just to hear yourself speak? Not only did I kill Kazuo Yasui, but I also just slaughtered seven of your grandmasters. If you want to avenge them, I am more than happy to oblige," Chen Fengyun replied with a cold sneer.
"Young man, you are formidable, but if you think you can run wild in Great Japan and make it back alive, you are sorely mistaken. If you are willing to submit to us, not only will you be granted countless beauties and unimaginable wealth, but you can even become the next master of the Yagyu Sect. What do you say? Think about it." To Chen Fengyun's surprise, Ancestor Yagyu actually attempted to recruit him with promises of women and riches.
"What an absolute joke. The moment you dared to send people to Huaxia to assassinate my father, you sealed the doom of the Yagyu Sect. Besides, let's talk about your women—aren't most Japanese beauties just adult film actresses? I have no interest in riding a public bus."
Chen Fengyun spat in disgust, then lunged forward to attack Ancestor Yagyu. Although the old man was a supreme grandmaster, his advanced age meant his physical vitality had long since faded compared to a young man's.
"Back in the day, this old man rode roughshod across the Huaxia battlefield, slaying dozens of Huaxia martial arts experts and conquering countless Huaxia women. I never imagined that in my twilight years, I would be bullied by a junior like you," Ancestor Yagyu muttered, sighing as he parried the blows.
"It seems you are nothing more than an executioner, old monster. Today, I will slaughter even more Japanese to atone for your sins!" Losing his composure at the provocation, Chen Fengyun unleashed a devastating array of techniques, completely suppressing the old fogey.
"Hmph! Even if I die at your hands, my soul shall enter the shrine and live forever. I forgot to tell you—the souls of the millions who died in Huaxia back then are mostly stored within the shrine. They await our future consumption and will serve as nourishment for our rebirth."
Perhaps sensing that his time was up, Ancestor Yagyu revealed some of the darkest secrets of the shrine. This enraged Chen Fengyun beyond measure: "Hmph! After today, your precious shrine will cease to exist."
He made up his mind: once he eradicated the Yagyu Sect, he would raze that deeply sinful shrine to the ground, regardless of whether Ancestor Yagyu was deliberately baiting him or if some treacherous trap awaited him there.
"Huaxia boy, this old man will be waiting for you at the shrine. It won't be long before you and your entire family join us as food." With his dying breath, Ancestor Yagyu roared maniacally.
"Very well, I'll be right there." Ever since his cultivation had reached the peak of the Foundation Establishment stage, Chen Fengyun had known no fear. The world was vast, but as far as he was concerned, there was nowhere he could not go.
By this time, the Earth Dragon had completely slaughtered and devoured the remaining Yagyu martial artists. Chen Fengyun then unleashed a raging fire, burning the entire Yagyu headquarters into a barren wasteland of white ash. Recalling the Earth Dragon, he stepped onto his flying sword and sped toward the wicked Japanese shrine, pulling out a spirit stone to replenish the spiritual energy he had consumed.
