In the shadowy corner where the winding path led straight to the manor, a black SUV idled without turning off its engine, lurking in the darkness like a prowling beast. Then…

The moment the passenger door was pulled open, the vehicle roared to life and sped away.

Inside the car, Mu Qingcheng remained silent, methodically removing her gear. The young man driving glanced at her and sensed a hint of anger in her demeanor, though he couldn’t help but ask, “Boss, why did things escalate so much?”

The manor, once filled with melodious music, now lay utterly silent, even the flickering light show had ceased. Anyone with a modicum of sense would know—something serious had happened.

Mu Qingcheng let down her long hair, lips pressed tightly together, her expression restless as she replied, “He’s joined Shadow.”

“What? That bastard, wasn’t he—” But before they could finish, the phone Mu Qingcheng had left on the backseat suddenly began to ring.

She reached for it and glanced at the screen. The caller ID displayed a single name—“Grandfather.”

Mu Qingcheng paused, then gestured for silence as she pressed the answer button.

“Hello, Grandfather. It’s late—did you need something?” Her voice, deliberately tinged with exhaustion and raspiness, startled the man on the other end.

When he spoke again, his tone softened, filled with affection and indulgence, the usually domineering voice now gentle. “Qingcheng, after thinking it over, I’ve decided to bring you home and raise you myself. With your father gone, if I let you wander outside any longer… my heart just can’t take it.”

Truthfully, this wasn’t the first time Grandfather Mu had tried to bring Mu Qingcheng home. Ever since the Mu family had finally found her and revealed her “identity,” they wanted to reclaim her. Yet Mu Qingcheng had no desire to see her father, even harboring some resistance.

Grandfather Mu didn’t want to force her, so he allowed her to live outside, occasionally sending necessities and keeping a respectful distance, always caring for her.

But after her father passed, Grandfather Mu could no longer bear to let her remain away.

Now, after a long silence, Mu Qingcheng finally spoke, “Alright, I’ll do as you wish.”

Grandfather Mu was caught off guard, stunned for over ten seconds before exclaiming with excitement, “Good, good, in a few days I’ll have Jingchi pick you up.”

“Mm.”

Mu Qingcheng answered softly, then ended the call.

On the other side, the young driver was perplexed. He looked at Mu Qingcheng and asked in confusion, “Boss, you’re going back to the Mu family?”

“Yes, I am.”

Mu Qingcheng gazed out the window, her eyes unfocused, lost in thought.

“But, Boss, with our current resources, that little Mu family—if you wanted it, you could buy it outright. Why bother wading into all that mess? You know how much filth lurks among the wealthy families.”

He truly couldn’t understand why Mu Qingcheng, who had always refused to “go home,” would suddenly agree.

Mu Qingcheng merely ruffled his hair, patiently explaining, “Oh, how dull it would be to just buy them out. I’d much rather see them submit, to willingly offer up the entire Mu family, obediently presenting it at my feet—that’s far more satisfying!”

As she spoke, the woman’s brows and eyes were tinged with a fierce, proud spirit—like a dandelion defying the wind. Wrapped in a fragile form, yet determined to walk the hardest path.
