Had she been asked, Ran Siya would naturally have said she did not wish to see him.
But how could Si Qingchen give her the chance to refuse?
With those words, several equally tall and imposing subordinates emerged from the side hall, restraining a figure whose steps were unsteady.
Ran Siya’s eyes widened at once, and she staggered backward.
Even though the man’s clothes were disheveled, with faint bruises at the corners of his eyes, everyone recognized him immediately.
He was the eldest grandson of the Sun family—Sun Minda.
Mu Qingcheng had not expected this.
With her methods, holding Sun Minda back would not have been difficult, but she had never intended to do so.
This time, too, it had merely been a precautionary arrangement.
She had not expected Si Qingchen to act with such force and bluntness.
Now that Sun Minda had been brought before them, his eyes lit up the moment he saw Ran Siya.
He abruptly broke free of the two men restraining him and darted over to her.
“Siya, Siya, please save me!”
Terrified, Ran Siya lost all composure and retreated several more steps.
She recoiled from Sun Minda’s touch as though he were a poisonous snake, shouting loudly despite the utter lack of conviction in her voice:
“I... I don’t know you. Don’t come any closer! Don’t come any closer!”
“...You don’t... know me?”

Sun Minda stood there in stunned disbelief, his eyes filled with incredulity.
As he looked at Ran Siya, his Adam’s apple bobbed. Slowly, tears gathered in his eyes.
Mu Qingcheng had never expected the notorious Sun Minda to reveal such a side of himself.
At that moment, it seemed that his feelings for Ran Siya... might actually have been sincere.
Unfortunately, the young lady of the Ran family wanted none of it. Though no one would believe her, she desperately shook her head and denied everything.
“Young Master Sun, you and I have never had any grievances, past or present. Don’t slander me.”
“Heh, slander... You actually said I was slandering you?”
Sun Minda’s mental state was clearly abnormal. Mu Qingcheng recognized almost instantly that he was an addict.
Now, faced with Ran Siya’s repeated denials, Sun Minda seemed unable to bear it any longer. His mind finally collapsed.
In a daze, the still-young man’s eyes suddenly turned bloodred. He stretched out both arms and lunged toward the terrified girl nearby, clawing at her while roaring like a vengeful ghost.
Si Qingchen frowned, turned around, and pulled Mu Qingcheng decisively into his arms, covering her eyes as he ordered in a deep voice:
“What are you waiting for? Subdue him and take him away before he hurts someone!”
“I’ll do it!”
As soon as the words fell, Si Nan, who had appeared alone, stepped forward and seized Sun Minda by the collar.
He lifted the man as easily as one might pick up a chick and tossed him back to his brothers.
“Take him away.”
At Si Qingchen’s command, the group of subordinates restrained Sun Minda and dragged him back inside.

...
Ran Siya watched, still shaken, as Sun Minda was finally taken away, and could not help letting out a breath of relief.
Just then, Old Master Mu roared furiously:
“Everyone from the Mu family, come home with me!”
With that, he left in long strides, supported by Butler Ji.

After making arrangements for all the reporters, Chu Bai stood at the entrance of the conference room and watched them depart in an orderly fashion.
A smile remained on her face, never diminishing in the slightest. She was calm and graceful, without losing even a trace of her composure.
It was not until the man was about to leave with the reporters that she suddenly came to her senses and caught hold of his hem.
Stammering, she said:
“Don’t go! Brother Bei, could you... please not leave just yet?”
Si Bei: “...”
