Chapter 35: Attributes Doubled Directly?!
Stepping into the changing room, Song Qi approached locker number 02.
“Let me see, it’s… a training uniform and a vial of potion.”
“One bottle per day?”
The training uniform was a common style, loose and highly breathable. The potion bottle was no bigger than a thumb.
The liquid inside glowed with a strange, bewitching purple. Its appearance alone set it apart.
Pop!
He uncapped it and took a sniff, detecting a faint sweetness.
The aroma was pleasant and subtle, almost tempting him to taste it.
But Song Qi resisted, turned around, undressed, and began applying the potion to his body.
...
Soon, Song Qi emerged from the changing room.
As soon as he entered the training hall, the City Lord reached out and squeezed Song Qi’s arm and thigh, then glanced at the tablet in his hand.
“Hmm, your constitution is decent, but your strength is lacking.”
“Still, as a Summoner, it’s normal for your strength to be a bit weak. Your mental attribute… 38? That’s acceptable for your main attribute.”
“Now, pay close attention. There are three movements; these constitute your entire training regimen.”
With that, the City Lord strode to the center of the hall and adopted a peculiar stance.
It was somewhat reminiscent of a horse stance merged with a meditative posture, yet he balanced on one leg, and his hands rested horizontally at his sides.
Next came the second movement: both feet touched down, weight lowered, resembling a swimming fish.
Then, swiftly, he transitioned to the third movement. The change was subtle; the center of gravity remained low, only the limbs shifted position. Yet the aura transformed abruptly!
Like countless savage beasts poised to strike, brimming with ferocity!
The City Lord then smoothly reverted to the first movement.
He demonstrated the sequence three times.
Though the three movements seemed unrelated, in the City Lord’s hands, their transitions were seamless.
“Did you memorize them?”
“More or less,” Song Qi replied with a nod.
Only three movements, not complex; easy enough to remember.
“But… are these all?”
“The simplest principles are the most profound. These three movements were distilled by countless ancestors of our race as the most effective postures.”
“The first is a meditative stance, designed to enhance your mental attribute.”
“Once you’ve mastered the first movement and can enter a meditative state, we’ll proceed with the next stage of training.”
The City Lord conjured a chair and sat down nearby.
Song Qi nodded, walked to the center of the room, and positioned himself in the first movement as he recalled it.
His constitution and agility both exceeded twenty.
For most people, standing on one leg was extremely difficult, but for him, it was manageable.
“Your hands are too tense. This isn’t strength training—it’s for meditation. Relax.”
“Straighten your leg more. Relaxing doesn’t mean cramping up.”
“And your spine isn’t properly extended.”
“Forget it, let me help you.”
Before Song Qi could react, a cloud of black mist wrapped around his body.
A sharp crack echoed.
Snap!
Song Qi felt his back and the hollows behind his knees suddenly pulled straight!
“Ahhhhhhh!”
A heart-rending scream reverberated through the floor.
The City Lord covered his ears with indifference, his expression unmoved, as if he’d expected this all along.
At that moment, Song Qi felt his back and thighs go numb.
His whole body was caught in a bizarre sensation—both tingling and aching.
A discomfort so intense he’d never forget it.
“This is a meditative posture?!”
Song Qi wanted to curse.
Meditation was out of the question; he couldn’t even focus.
If the City Lord weren’t who he was, Song Qi might have suspected he was being toyed with.
The black mist held him firmly in place, forcing him to maintain the posture.
The persistent ache stimulated his mind without pause.
“Hold that position!”
“Stop howling! Focus on the changes in your body, don’t waste the potion.”
At the words, Song Qi bit his tongue, gritted his teeth, and tried his best to align his posture with the force of the black mist.
As his movements grew more precise, the black mist gradually fell away.
Finally, Song Qi noticed something unusual.
He felt a faint warmth where he’d applied the potion.
A soothing heat flooded toward his abdomen.
Soon, the discomfort faded.
In its place was a tingling current that coursed through his whole body.
The slight pain only made the sensation more pronounced.
He closed his eyes, his body naturally relaxed, and his posture became increasingly correct.
After about ten minutes, the black mist had fully receded from Song Qi.
The City Lord watched with satisfaction as Song Qi, at the center of the formation, entered a meditative state.
A face formed from the black mist, showing a contemplative expression.
“All right, let’s leave him be.”
Seeing that Song Qi was in the zone, the City Lord got up and exited the room.
...
Several hours passed…
Song Qi was still holding the one-legged pose, his skin flushed red.
As the last traces of potion were absorbed, he could no longer sustain himself and collapsed to the floor.
Bang!
The impact jolted him out of meditation.
Dazed, he tried to get up, but the moment he moved—
“So painful!”
He hadn’t felt it while meditating.
But as soon as his mind cleared,
Song Qi felt as if he’d been pulled from boiling water—his skin burning and stinging all over!
His limbs were so numb they felt powerless.
He couldn’t rise at all.
After several failed attempts, he finally resigned himself to lying flat.
Minutes passed before he recovered enough to stand, albeit barely.
Clang!
The door swung open and the City Lord entered.
“Congratulations, your mental strength has increased by forty-two points. Your mental attribute now reaches eighty.”
A moment ago, Song Qi had been lying on the ground, feeling utterly drained. Hearing this, he was first incredulous. He opened his panel with a thought.
Name: Song Qi
Class: Summoner
Level: 14
Experience: 251,338/500,000
Strength: 8
Constitution: 23
Agility: 21
Mental: 80
Free Attribute Points: 14
...
His mental attribute really had reached eighty!
Song Qi was ecstatic.
Moreover, his strength and constitution had also improved.
It was only a single point each, but progress nonetheless.
Before he could celebrate, however, the City Lord’s words struck first.
“Don’t get the wrong idea. This was your first training, so the effects are at their peak.”
“Subsequent sessions will gradually yield less.”
“And though this improvement is decent, considering you possess a super S-grade talent and used the best potion available… you understand.”
Song Qi’s joy evaporated, replaced by a faint sense of shame.
He’d been given the best resources, yet only achieved an above-average result.
He felt he’d let the City Lord down.
“All right, if there’s nothing else, head home. Just be sure to arrive on time tomorrow.”
“City Lord, I’ll work even harder tomorrow!” Song Qi promised determinedly.
The City Lord waved him off, signaling he understood, and dismissed Song Qi.
As the elevator doors closed behind him and Song Qi departed, the black mist that had been lurking in the City Lord’s shadow suddenly burst forth.
“‘Decent’?!”
“Seriously, Fu Tianqi! You call a forty-two point increase in one day ‘decent’?!!”
A face appeared in the black mist, displaying utter astonishment.
“I’ve been with you for years and never realized you could be so good at pretending!”
“You’re super S-grade yourself—do you remember how much your attributes increased back then?”
“How can you call someone who improved by twice as much as you ‘decent’?”
The City Lord showed little reaction at first, but at the last remark, he couldn’t help but retort.
“You know nothing!”
“This is a teaching method.”
“Precisely because his potential is great, I must push him harder—to keep him from becoming arrogant.”
The black mist was unconvinced.
“Come on! I’ve known you for decades; I see right through you.”
“You’re just feeling threatened, so you’re acting tough to regain your confidence.”
Bang!
The City Lord swung a fist, instantly dispersing the face.
But the black mist quickly reformed its features on the other side, still with that mocking tone.
“Touched a nerve!”
“Did I hit a nerve?”
“You’re upset because I spoke the truth, aren’t you?”
The City Lord shot him a cold glare and turned away.
“Not wasting words on you!”
