Chapter 30: Three Consecutive Victories, Astonishing the World (4)
“Please.” Li Guanqi gestured lightly with his hand.
Juliet smiled proudly. “It seems that without showing some real skill, you don’t understand fear.”
She raised one hand high and shouted in a deep voice, “Appear, Scarlet Circuit!”
A square blue light screen descended from above, enveloping the dueling arena.
“I will link the ‘Phantom’ and the ‘Familiar.’”
“Circuit Union!”
As her voice fell, the “Phantom” and the “Familiar” transformed into starlight and floated into the sky, becoming two red arrows.
“Link Summon!”
“Manifest, forbidden lover!”
“Link 2, Vampire Sanguis!”
A gothic-style vampire girl emerged from the summoning circle, landing lightly on the ground. She immediately turned her gaze to Li Guanqi, slightly parting her lips to reveal chillingly sharp fangs—both adorable and deadly.
Li Guanqi’s eyes trembled; he had to admit, high-spirit cards indeed carried a subtle oppressive aura.
“Activate the effect of ‘Sanguis,’” Juliet said with satisfaction at his reaction.
“Special summon the opponent’s ‘Graveyard Crawler’ from their graveyard to their field, transforming it into an Undead!”
The vampire sneered and waved her arm, summoning a swarm of bats that dragged the decayed ‘Graveyard Crawler’ from the graveyard, its body rotting yet emitting an aura of undeath.
“At this moment,”
“Activate the other effect of ‘Sanguis’—draw a card!”
“Forbidden Holy Grail.”
Juliet’s heart leapt when she saw the card face; she clenched her fists. “Beautiful.”
The goddess of luck was smiling upon her!
This card could negate the effect of one monster. First, she used ‘Vampire Empire’ to destroy ‘Pain,’ then ‘Holy Grail’ to negate ‘Uber’s’ monster.
A perfect tactic!
“Hmph~” Juliet couldn’t help but flash a coquettish smile.
“Activate the graveyard effect of ‘Phantom,’ banish this card, pay 500 base points, then conduct an additional summon of a ‘Vampire’ monster.”
“Thanks to ‘Sanguis’s’ effect, the opponent’s ‘Graveyard Crawler’ on the field can be used as tribute!”
“Become my sustenance!”
“Rank-up summon—”
‘Sanguis’ sneered as it clenched its claws. The ‘Graveyard Crawler’ wailed once before turning into golden light and dissipating.
“It has appeared!” Hongmi shouted. “Typical vampire tactics—using the opponent’s cards to cause trouble!”
Zicai could only weakly retort, “Using the opponent’s monster as tribute and then grabbing their monster as overlay material.”
“Appear!” Juliet excitedly slapped the card onto the duel disk. “Vampire Duke!”
A pale, slender hand reached out from the vortex, tightly grasping the edge of the summoning circle. The Vampire Duke slowly stood, radiating authority.
“Witness true terror.”
“Activate the effect of ‘Duke’!”
“Targeting ‘Red Calamity Star’ in the graveyard, special summon that card!”
“Then, by the effect of ‘Red Calamity Star,’ pay 1,000 base points to special summon ‘Grace’ from the graveyard!”
From the pitch-black vortex, a blood-red figure burst through the air.
---
Red Calamity Star spread her arms, her scarlet cape unfurling like wings, while Grace’s form appeared, surrounded by a swarm of bats.
The blood moon rose, casting a crimson hue over the scene.
Four vampire monsters radiated an imposing aura, coldly gazing at Li Guanqi.
Like a serpent’s nest staring at a helpless mouse.
Blue base points: 3500 → 3000 → 2000
“Juliet is exploding with power!” Hongmi commentated. “Only two cards, but she’s summoned four monsters!”
“She used one ‘Lightning Strike,’ ‘Sanguis’ replenished a card, and she still has four cards in hand.”
“Solid!”
Zicai whispered anxiously, “One ‘Hated Knight’ alone might not hold up...”
“Why not summon another with ‘Throne’ and just add to the hand?”
“The cost of ‘Super Fusion?’ Isn’t there still a card in hand? What card? Too precious to discard?”
Li Guanqi’s ‘Throne’ effect drew a ‘Hated Knight,’ but strangely, he did not choose to special summon it.
“Wow, four monsters.” Li Guanqi sighed softly, somewhat flatly. “Impressive, the ‘Vampire’ archetype is really strong.”
“You’re already feeling overwhelmed just from warming up?” Juliet smiled coyly, exuding charm.
The vampire girl occasionally spoke with fierce confidence.
Her expression suddenly turned icy as she waved her hand. “Activate—”
[Waiting for opponent’s action…]
Juliet was momentarily stunned, raising her brows lightly but unfazed. “Interrupting is annoying. You want ‘Super Fusion’?”
“Hehehe—”
“Come on, whatever.”
She opened her arms, beaming with confidence, clutching her replenishment card like a shield.
Li Guanqi nodded slightly, scanning the arena, quietly counting, “4...5...”
“Five, 2500 base points...”
“Enough...”
Seeing his hesitation, Juliet sneered disdainfully. “Give up. No matter which two you fuse, it’s the same.”
“Desperate struggle.”
She lifted her proud head, narrowing her eyes. “Fuse!”
“You fuse, huh!”
The shouts were wild and unruly, hopping about.
Li Guanqi’s face went slack. “This kind of ‘please fusion’ demand is a first.”
He smiled faintly, his voice low and thoughtful.
“Then let’s see.”
The airflow halted abruptly; the ethereal energy in the air converged onto the cards.
“This is the strongest power forged from the darkness within.”
“Absolutely invincible!”
“Release the ultimate power!”
“Activate!”
---
Li Guanqi discarded the ‘Hated Knight’ from his hand, and the cards covering the field slowly flipped open.
“Super Fusion!”
“Boom—” A violent storm erupted centered on ‘Super Fusion,’ sweeping across the duel arena.
“Whoa!”
Hongmi gasped, leaning sharply backward, one hand clutching her wig tightly, the other gripping the edge of the commentary desk.
“This... this spirit...”
“Too powerful!”
She felt as if she was about to be blown away by the gale!
Zicai was no better off, eyes tightly shut, body leaning forward, hands protecting her head.
“Ninth level...”
“At least ninth level spirit...”
She felt her face being distorted by the wind!
The audience was thrown into chaos, various objects flying midair.
“Whoa—”
“My hat!”
“My wig!”
“Dude...”
“What on earth is this?”
“This spirit...”
“I’m about to be blown into madness!”
“No...”
“The audience is fusing too?!”
Ninth-level spirit, also called half-step epic, when unleashed, causes devastating real-world effects.
There was once a quasi-epic ‘Self-Destruct Switch’ that even blew up the audience—extremely excessive.
“What is this...” Juliet raised her hand to shield against the storm.
On the field, the four monsters—‘Sanguis,’ ‘Red Calamity Star,’ ‘Duke,’ and ‘Grace’—were suddenly surrounded by beams of liberating light.
Her eyes widened sharply. “What?!”
“Fuse my four monsters?!”
As soon as Juliet opened her eyes, she was pushed back by the storm, gritting her teeth. “What exactly are you fusing...”
Li Guanqi’s pupils contracted sharply. He murmured thoughtfully.
“Use ‘Uber - Hated Knight’ and all effect monsters on the opponent’s field as materials.”
Drawn by the ultimate power, five monsters transformed into points of light, spiraling and merging high above.
“Fusion Summon!”
“This is the pact we have guarded for a thousand years!”
“Manifest!”
“Uber - Guardian of Eternal Love!”
