Su Wanwan pondered for a moment. He was certainly not short of money, so he must be eating fish. What else could it possibly be?

She said in a firm tone, "It is just a matter of a few meals of fish. After all, he helped us out, so I will make them."

With her worry finally put to rest, Su Wanwan said, "Then get some rest early, I am heading back to my room."

Judging by Xie Beishen's usual attire, she could tell his family background must be quite good. What she had not expected, however, was that his family was not only wealthy but also powerful.

What a pity, such a top-tier man was not meant for her.

Oh well, forget it. The next one would be even more obedient.

Upon returning to his residence, Xie Beishen walked straight up and knocked on Lin Yu's door.

Noticing that Xie Beishen had not returned earlier that evening, Lin Yu had been leaning against the head of his bed, lighting a lamp to read a novel late into the night. Hearing the knock, he immediately knew it was Brother Shen. "Brother Shen, you are not asleep yet? Come on in."

Xie Beishen pushed the door open and asked directly, "What does 'white moonlight' mean?"

"Huh?" Lin Yu wore a completely bewildered expression. White moonlight? "Brother Shen, are you asking me what Su Wanwan meant when she talked about a white moonlight?"

"Spit it out." Their conversation outside earlier had fluctuated in volume, and he really had not caught some parts clearly.

Lin Yu explained, "Oh, she must have been asking if you have a white moonlight. I didn't answer her, how could I possibly betray you..."

"Get to the point," Xie Beishen interrupted.

Lin Yu answered straightforwardly, "A white moonlight is the person you are fond of."

Only then did it dawn on Xie Beishen. The woman had misunderstood him.

Understanding the situation, he returned to his own room to grab his clothes and take a shower.

The next morning, Su Wanwan prepared to make breakfast.

"Sis, let's have noodles in soup this morning. I saw that Brother Xie really enjoyed the noodles yesterday, so I will take some over to him this morning. Make a bit extra," Su Heng said as he sat in front of the stove, tending the fire.

"Alright." Su Wanwan was going to cook anyway, and it was just one extra portion. "After you finish your noodles, make sure you drink the mung bean soup I boiled for you in the enamel mug on the table."

This was something she had cooked using spiritual spring water from her dimensional space, simmered to a rich, thick consistency in the rice cooker and sweetened with rock sugar.

If she had given him pure spiritual spring water directly, it would have raised too many suspicions, though a second time would be much better without causing any discomfort.

It was necessary to clear her second brother's mind so that studying would come much more naturally to him, and his five senses would become sharper as well.

Besides, after drinking the undiluted water herself, her strength had increased significantly.

"Okay, I'll drink it as soon as I finish eating," Su Heng agreed readily. His younger sister truly cared for him, and the weather was indeed sweltering.

She prepared three bowls of hot-oil splashed noodles, blanching a few leaves of leafy greens to place on top, and fried three eggs with runny yolks to crown each bowl of noodles separately.

She also prepared a separate bowl of non-spicy noodles for Xiao Hei, frying an egg for it as well.

The rich aroma of the hot-oil noodles immediately made Su Heng swallow hard.

It smelled so good.

Su Heng picked up a basket and placed two bowls of noodles inside. "I'm worried the noodles will get soggy and not taste good, so I'll go eat with Brother Xie over there. You don't need to wait for me." With that, carrying the basket in one hand and holding the enamel mug in the other, he headed outside.

"Remember to drink the mung bean soup. I boiled it especially for you," Su Wanwan reminded him.

"Got it." Su Heng dashed off in a flurry toward Xie Beishen's courtyard.

Seeing that Xie Beishen had just finished brushing his teeth, he smiled and said, "Brother Xie, I brought you breakfast. Hurry up and eat, the noodles won't taste good if they get soggy."

Looking at the basket in Su Heng's hand, Xie Beishen had not expected Su Wanwan to send him breakfast. The corners of his mouth curved upward. "Come inside."

Lin Yu put down the fire tongs and hurried closely behind them into the room.

He watched as Su Heng took out two bowls of noodles, the pungent and savory fragrance instantly rushing into his nasal cavity.

It seemed there was a portion for him too. With a broad smile, just as he was about to step forward, he saw Su Heng pick up one of the bowls and begin to eat.

His face froze abruptly.

After taking a bite, Su Heng explained, "I was worried the noodles would get soggy, so I brought my bowl over here to eat with you. Once we finish, we can head off to work together."

Xie Beishen turned to Lin Yu and said, "Don't bother making my portion this morning. Just make your own."

Su Heng glanced at Lin Yu, his throat bobbing as he swallowed. He had entirely forgotten there was still a Lin Yu in his courtyard. He rubbed his nose awkwardly. "Um, Lin Yu, my sister forgot to make a portion for you, and there's nothing I can do about it."

Hehe... he certainly wouldn't admit that he had simply forgotten to mention it to his sister.

Besides, asking his sister to cook for an extra person would be too much trouble. Brother Xie was different; he was a benefactor to their family.

Knowing how precious grain was, and with the food smelling so utterly divine, Lin Yu turned back to go cook outside, casting one deep look at the bowls of noodles in their hands.

He decided that he, too, needed to get on good terms with Su Wanwan so that he could get a share of noodles whenever she cooked them.

Xie Beishen bit into his egg; the yolk was still delightfully runny.

Her cooking was just as meticulous as his mother's.

Taking another bite of the broad noodles, a rich oily fragrance and a slight, tingling spiciness instantly burst across his tip of his tongue.

The more he chewed, the more flavorful it became. After polishing off a whole bowl, a light sheen of sweat beaded on his forehead, leaving him with an irresistible urge to have another bowl.

Xie Beishen picked up two bottles of soda and placed one in front of Su Heng. "Have a bottle of soda."

Su Heng smiled broadly and waved his hand. "No need, my sister specially boiled mung bean soup for me. I'll just drink that."

With that, he popped open the lid of the enamel mug.

Xie Beishen peered into the mug. Specially boiled? Had she not boiled any for him?

Looking at the generous volume inside the enamel mug, a container that large surely must contain his share as well.

Catching Xie Beishen's eager gaze, Su Heng tentatively tested the waters, "Would you want half of it?"

"Yes." Xie Beishen agreed instantly.

With a smile in his eyes, he impatiently pulled out the enamel mug from his own desk and placed it in front of Su Heng. He had known all along that Su Wanwan must have brewed a portion for him too.

Seeing Xie Beishen's expression, Su Heng realized the man must be extremely fond of mung bean soup; otherwise, why would his eyes be shining with such anticipation? Generously, he poured well over half of the soup into Xie Beishen's mug.

The two men began drinking together.

Xie Beishen took several large gulps. The liquid was smooth on the palate with just the right amount of refreshing sweetness. The mung beans had been simmered until they burst and fell apart into a delicate, powdery texture that left a lingering, subtle fragrance gliding across his tongue and soothing his soul.

The summer heat instantly dissipated. At the very bottom of the mug, a few soft, tender bean kernels still lingered. Tilting his head back to drain the final drop, he felt utterly refreshed and invigorated.

Su Heng felt the exact same way. It was so delicious that he instantly regretted giving away more than half of it to Xie Beishen.

Both men slumped lazily against the backs of their chairs.

A moment later, their stomachs simultaneously began to churn violently.

Xie Beishen frowned slightly, quickly rising to his feet to retrieve toilet paper from the cabinet. Just as he prepared to head to the latrine, Su Heng snatched the paper from his hand and bolted outside, barely able to hold it in any longer.

Left with no choice, Xie Beishen had to grab another roll of paper and sprint out rapidly.

Watching the two men dash out one after another, both clutching toilet paper, Lin Yu stared in utter disbelief, his eyes wide open.
