Chapter 152: The Ghost Forum
After Sister Yu was called out by Li Muyang, she also looked somewhat surprised. I smiled and said, "Sister Yu has a huge background, while ours is more of an unlicensed business."
I did not explicitly reveal Sister Yu's identity. Sister Yu was taken aback for a moment, then looked at me with an awkward smile and asked, "I'll join. Is there anything you need me to do?"
Hearing this, I was stunned once again and looked at Sister Yu in disbelief. Li Muyang chuckled and said, "Sister Yu, do you know how to use a computer?"
"Yes, I do. What's wrong?" Sister Yu asked, looking puzzled.
Li Muyang nodded and said, "That's perfect. We're worried that our advertising promotional reach won't be enough, so why not set up a website online as well? That way, business will get better."
I was momentarily stunned, then thought about it—well, that makes sense. You have to hand it to Li Muyang; the kid actually has some brains, even if he's a bit goofy. I pointed towards the third floor and said, "There's a dedicated computer gaming room upstairs, and the equipment is top-notch. Let's get to work then. From now on, the e-sports room on the third floor will be our very first pot of gold in our business venture."
Both Li Muyang and Sister Yu smiled and agreed. We then hurried up to the e-sports room. Sister Yu skillfully operated the computer and began setting up the website, while Li Muyang fiddled with his phone continuously. After a while, he said to me, "Lin Xuan, the customer service person is right here in Chongqing. She said the posters will be ready very soon. Let's go down there this afternoon and put them up along the way. As for the computer side of things, I'll leave it to Sister Yu."
I replied with a sound of agreement, and Sister Yu also nodded, her eyes fixed on the screen. At two o'clock in the afternoon, Li Muyang and I went out and arrived at a place called Yingshang Creative Design Studio. The studio was located on the sixteenth floor of an office building. We were warmly received by the receptionist and led inside. After sitting down and drinking a few cups of tea, the designer handed us a sample to look over. I inspected it closely and felt it looked pretty good, quite professional. I handed the sample back to the designer and said, "Let's go with this one then. When can you have them ready here?"
"Right away. I'll print them out. How many copies do you need?" the designer asked with a smile.
Li Muyang held up a finger to represent the number five and said excitedly, "500 copies!"
I was taken aback, patted his hand, and said, "500 copies? Can you finish putting up that many? It's too many. Just get 100 copies; any more than that would also pollute the environment."
The designer nodded and walked out. After a while, the designer came back in carrying a thick stack of posters. After paying the remaining balance, we took the posters and walked out of the studio. Along the way, Li Muyang and I discussed where would be the best places to put them up. In the end, we decided on locations with slightly larger crowds, such as public squares and prominent spots around Hongyadong. Acting like a couple of thieves, we would run away immediately after putting up each poster. Three hours later, we finally finished posting all 100. I clapped my hands, smiled, and said, "Done! Let's go home and see how Sister Yu is doing."
Li Muyang also smiled and agreed. We took a taxi back home. Sister Yu had been sitting in front of the computer all morning, and apart from meal and bathroom breaks, she hadn't gotten up once. Hearing the door open, Sister Yu turned her head and said to us, "You're back. Come take a look. The paranormal social website we set up this morning already has a lot of people registered, and quite a few have posted about paranormal experiences they've been through."
Hearing this good news, Li Muyang and I hurried over and crowded around the computer monitor. Sister Yu pointed to the upper right corner of the screen and said, "Look, here is the follower count, and here are the posts they've submitted. I even specially created a help-seeking page; I'm sure people will come."
I stared at the computer screen while listening to Sister Yu. When I saw the follower count, I was dumbfounded and said in disbelief, "Are you sure this is the number of followers? One million?!"
Sister Yu nodded smugly, watching the dazed expressions on Li Muyang's and my faces. I rubbed my eyes, thinking my vision was playing tricks on me, and said again, "No way! How long has it even been, and already over a million followers, and it's still growing? Oh my god, Sister Yu, did you set this up for just the city or nationwide?"
"Nationwide, of course. Otherwise, did you think a single city could get you over a million followers?" Sister Yu replied.
I nodded, while Li Muyang was the most excited of all, shouting, "Sister Yu, you are way too amazing! This is about to blow up. Looks like we're going to get rich, hehe!"
I slapped Li Muyang on the shoulder and said, "You money-grubber, wipe that wretched smile off your face. It's getting late. To celebrate our milestone of hitting one million, and to thank Sister Yu for her hard work, let's go out to eat tonight."
Sister Yu smiled and said yes, and Li Muyang nodded as well. That evening, we ordered a table of food at the Man Kou Xiang Dumpling Restaurant. When Sister Yu followed us there and saw it was a dumpling joint, she said, "Hey, Lin Xuan, your idea of a celebration is coming to eat dumplings? You wasted my entire day for nothing."
I looked at the dumpling restaurant before us and said, "This place was remodeled long ago. It's not just dumplings anymore; they have other food too. Crawfish, boiled mixed delicacies, home-style stir-fries—they have everything here."
Hearing this, Sister Yu reluctantly nodded and followed us inside. The boss was still the same person. Seeing me arrive, he immediately came forward, smiling as he said, "Well, if it isn't young Lin! What wind blew you here? And where's your master?"
After speaking, the boss even looked behind us. I smiled and replied, "Master went away on a business trip. Today I brought two friends to try your cooking. Come to think of it, it's been quite a while since I last patronized this place."
The boss laughed happily and said, "Alright then, please come right in. I'll arrange a private room for you immediately. Xiao Deng, tidy up the best room upstairs; guests have arrived."
"Hey, coming right up!"
As soon as the boss finished speaking, a waiter's response echoed from upstairs. I smiled and walked up, with the boss following right behind us. After we were seated, a waiter came in holding a menu. I tossed the menu to Li Muyang and Sister Yu, telling them to order whatever they liked. A smile remained constantly on the boss's face. I looked at the boss and thought for a moment before saying, "Hmm... Uncle Yin, let's go with the usual. Bring three plates of dumplings first. I haven't eaten your dumplings in a long time, and I've missed them terribly, haha."
Boss Yin nodded and smiled, saying, "Alright, I'll go boil them myself. Just wait a moment."
I gave a sound of affirmation, and the boss smiled as he walked out. I tapped the table and said, "Well, have you two finished looking at the menu yet? Hurry up, I'm starving."
Li Muyang looked at the menu and said, "That's pretty much it. Let's go with these."
With that, Li Muyang handed the menu back to the waiter. The waiter read out the ordered dishes and walked out. After a while, the three plates of dumplings were served first. I devoured them with great relish, and soon the rest of the ordered dishes were brought out as well. We ate, chatted, laughed, and discussed our next plans. An hour later, we returned home.
I could tell how deeply invested Li Muyang was in this matter. As soon as we got home, he rushed straight to the computer and said to me, "Lin Xuan, come quick and look! The count has gone up by so many more."
I gave a wry smile and said, "You can slowly look at it yourself; I'm going to take a shower."
With that, I walked back to my room. After taking a shower, I lay in bed playing on my phone for a while, made a phone call to Chu Mengxi, and then drifted into a deep sleep. The next morning, I was shaken awake by Li Muyang. I groggily climbed out of bed in annoyance and said, "What are you doing? Are you out of your mind?"
Li Muyang paid no attention to my scolding whatsoever and hauled me up. He dragged me all the way to the e-sports room on the third floor. Pointing at the computer screen, Li Muyang said, "Lin Xuan, take a look, you've got to look at this."
I was stunned and looked at the computer screen, asking, "What is it? Look at what?"
Li Muyang shook his head, operated the mouse to flip to the help page, and said excitedly, "Look, from last night until now, even more people have followed our forum, and there are tons of people seeking help."
"What?! Don't tell me you didn't sleep at all last night and sat in front of the computer the whole time?!" I asked, staring at Li Muyang in shock.
Li Muyang nodded dazedly. I slapped my forehead and said, "You're something else. I yield to you."
With that, I even gave him a thumbs-up.
