Chapter 141: Revenge!
In this spacious area, I clearly spotted several ceramic jars! There was no way these things could have been moved in here by snakes! Someone had been here!
Surprised, I walked over to the jars. Some of them contained a pitch-black liquid, while others were already dried up. On the surface of one jar, I distinctly saw the character "Gen"!
This character again! What on earth did this symbol mean? The appearance of these jars here was definitely no coincidence; it was highly likely that these two-headed snakes were being artificially raised here!
From burying bones to refine ghosts to sacrificing nine corpses to refine souls, all of these were part of some dark sorcery. What kind of dark magic was being refined in this place?
Filled with shock, I continued deeper inside. The cave branched off in all directions, with pitch-black openings surrounding me, and I had no idea what might be lurking inside them.
I walked forward along the main passage until a figure appeared ahead. I was shocked—was there still someone in here? Moreover, it was a woman, dressed entirely in black, with very long hair, standing with her back turned toward me!
I stopped in my tracks and watched her vigilantly. It was simply too bizarre for someone to appear in a place like this!
She seemed to have noticed me, and the fit of coughing came to an abrupt halt. Had it been her making that sound all along? Could it have been her walking through the woods every night? Who on earth was she? Why was she staying here? And what connection did she have to that character "Gen"?
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" I called out loudly. My voice echoed and reverberated for a long time.
"I... have been here for a long time..." a hoarse voice replied. "I was dragged here..."
"Who dragged you here? What kind of person are you?" I asked.
"He is terrifying, he is not human... I've stayed here for a very, very long time..."
This person's mind seemed a bit muddled. Could she have been driven half-mad by staying here for too long? But that didn't make sense—down here with nothing to eat or drink, it was impossible for her to survive indefinitely.
I said, "Was that you in the woods every night? You could clearly get out, why didn't you leave?"
Thud! A muffled sound echoed from afar, and the greenish-blue light abruptly vanished, plunging the surroundings into pitch darkness! I looked around in astonishment. What was going on? Why did it suddenly go dark? It felt just like a sudden circuit breaker tripping!
A noise echoed from a distance—someone was falling from above. Violent coughing came from the direction of the standing water. It was that punk Yun Mutian!
Ha! Truly, the ways of heaven are cyclical and retribution is swift; that fellow had fallen down here himself!
The coughing shifted, and by the sound of it, that punk was heading this way.
That bastard couldn't possibly have jumped down on his own accord. No matter what, since he had descended to this place, I was going to settle every single grievance and exact vengeance for all the times he had tried to harm me, clearing the score all at once!
Did he really think I was easy to push around? Even back when my health was poor and I was a model student in school, I had never taken this kind of arrogant abuse. If I didn't get payback with interest, my surname wouldn't be Wang!
I took a few steps back, pressed my back against the wall, and silently recited a spell.
The sound grew closer, and a faint smartphone light appeared.
Judging by how disconnected that bastard seemed from the world, I actually thought he didn't even use a phone!
The phone light moved in this direction, and the hacking cough grew closer and closer. He was coughing so violently; there was no telling how badly he had been roughed up before coming down here!
I hid in a corner and watched his movements.
Yun Mutian walked very cautiously, sweeping his phone light around to ensure there were no anomalies before moving forward. He was probably guarding against me too, worried I would launch a sneak attack from the shadows.
He reached the location of the ceramic jars. Noticing something, he began talking to himself. He was too far away to hear clearly, but I could sense that the fellow was extremely shocked, mixed with a hint of wild elation.
He continued walking deeper inside, speeding up considerably as if he couldn't wait to find something.
As he drew closer, I silently recited the spell.
Yun Mutian abruptly looked toward my side and violently swung his arm. I quickly sidestepped as several whistling sounds whipped past, and a few ice-bone needles shot right out from where I had been standing!
"Coward! Unhappy that I kicked you down here, so you're hiding in the dark to launch a sneak attack? Hahaha! Truly the behavior of a loser! You can't compare to me at all!" the fellow laughed wildly, then coughed a few times.
"A sneak attack from the shadows? You're really overthinking it. To deal with a piece of work like you, I don't need to resort to sneaking around!" I said coldly. Reciting the incantation silently, I formed a hand gesture and pointed at him.
The fellow let out a miserable scream, his body jolting as he abruptly dropped to his knees. His phone fell to the ground, and both hands slapped flat against the earth, leaving him completely paralyzed. He stared in shock, struggling desperately, but it had no effect whatsoever.
I walked out from the corner. Just because I didn't fight back earlier didn't mean I lacked the ability! The only reason I had endured time and again was because my legs were injured, and I wanted to avoid stirring up too much trouble, hoping only to protect those people's safety alongside Old Man Ma. Yet this guy kept pushing his luck further and further!
I said coldly, "Time and again, you've tried to take my life, backing me into a dead end! Do you really think I wouldn't dare deal with you?"
"Hahahaha! Just you? A cripple I kicked down here with one foot! A loser! Deal with me? Do you dare? With your frail, model-student look, have you ever even hit anyone? Back in school, all you did was hug your books and cower while rote-learning, thinking you could change your destiny! Hahaha! You're only good for running your mouth! You don't dare actually do a damn thing!"
The fellow was still acting arrogant even now. Did he really take me for a spineless coward?
Heh, model-student—that title had been far behind me ever since I graduated from high school.
I chanted silently. Yun Mutian let out a miserable shriek, his immobilized limbs unable to move as his body twisted in a bizarre and agonizing fashion.
Any sorcery intended to take a life is dark magic, and the method I used naturally wouldn't kill him; I was simply subduing his spirit, directly casting the curse upon his soul, which would cause him pain worse than death!
"This is for the time you used ice-bone needles on me!" I said coldly.
Wracked with agony, he burst into laughter: "Hahahaha! Is that really all? Is that all the tricks you have! Hahahaha!"
I continued chanting the spell, and his screams grew even more wretched. He thrashed his head about violently, as if trying to fling it right off his shoulders!
"This is for when you tried to use me as bait for the snakes!" I said coldly.
Suffering immensely, he squeezed out a few forced laughs: "Ha... haha..."
I kept chanting. With a sudden, piercing shriek, his restrained limbs jerked violently. His face distorted in agonizing pain, the laughter vanished entirely, replaced by a loud, desperate wail!
"This is for when you gathered a pack of corpses to surround me!" I said with a cold sneer. "And next, this is for the time you kicked me down here!"
I formed a hand seal, preparing to continue the spell.
"No... stop!" he cried out in agony.
He had barely suffered any real torment—compared to the numerous times he had tried to drive me to my grave, this was nothing. Was this guy already at his breaking point? So much for all his arrogant, invincible bravado! Turns out he was nothing more than a coward after all!
How could I possibly let it go just like that? He hadn't hesitated for a second when he kicked me down! If there had been those snakes down here, I would have been dead long ago!
Just as I was about to resume the chant, he pleaded desperately: "Don't... don't chant! I... I'll tell you about Old Man Ma. Aren't you curious? He... cough, cough... his seniority is so high, and he's been through so much, just how old is he actually..."
